Challenge 4, my dream job

Dream job.

I have to say I am very close to having my dream job. I absolutely love working in research. I feel extremely privileged to work in this specialist area of nursing.  Every day can bring a different challenge, and I thrive on the uniqueness.
As a research nurse, I find I have more time to spend with my patients and are often able to foster a great relationship with them.
It's an incredible feeling knowing you are at the very forefront of new technology,  pioneering treatments, better medicines and bringing your patients opportunities to play their parts.
When I see patients who have struggled with chronic conditions, start on trials of new medications, and improve, I feel proud I have helped in some small way. I am also overwhelmed with how altruistic patients can be. Most people will take part in research even if there is no benefit to themselves. This makes me believe in the human race and I feel very humbled by some of the patients I meet.
It is such a fantastic job with so many positives. Don't get me wrong, I have bad days, but the good definitely outweigh the bad. I get to meet all types of people from a variety of different areas, both adults and paediatric so I never get bored. I work in all specialities from, obstetrics and gynaecology, genetics, cardiac, paediatrics, diabetes, dermatology, infectious diseases, so I rarely get bored.
Another reason I love my job is because I am very autonomous and able to manage my own caseload. It gives me a sense of achievement being autonous and acting as  patients advocate.
I could was lyrical all day about my job but realise I don't want this post to be epic.
